Robert Porter Construction donated general contracting services to convert an ageing strip mall into a teen center that inspires youth to grow through music, art and spiritual guidance. The Rock at 32nd Street is a community project founded by Genesis Church and Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center. The teen center occupies 23,000 SF of strip retail center in north Phoenix.
The retail strip center was built in the 1950s and needed rehab work to the original roof before improvements to the interior space could begin. The original panel wood roof system needed reinforcement to support new mechanical equipment and interior equipment loads. Once the roof was repaired interior improvements commenced at an accelerated pace. This build out included reception area, office and meeting rooms, sanctuary and stage with seating for 500 people, game room and computer labs.
