The property management company for a local pizza restaurant chain contacted us to repair a series of bowstring trusses to the 60 year old building that the restaurant occupied. Along with Brad Young and Associates, the engineer of record, our team performed repairs to eight trusses.

Before any work could start our team had to demo the ceiling lid and grid in order to expose the trusses and identify the repairs needed. Shoring posts were used to support the trusses while we removed sections of bottom chords that needed to be replaced.

An intricate design to reinforce the replaced sections was engineered using horizontal tension rods that were fed through a clamp and plate assembly. This system had to be calculated torqued in order to provide the proper tension to join new section with the old. (Details A and B)

Other reinforcement repairs on the bottom and top chords were made with tab plates. (Details C and D) After the repair work was completed our team replaced ceiling joists that were removed during demolition
